Alissa is a wife and mother of two boys, as well as a full-time waitress and bartender. She was always active and was an athlete in high school, playing tennis, water polo, and swimming. It wasn’t until after having a family that she took up the sport of running.
Originally, she ran to lose weight and stay active until she signed up for her first official race in June of 2013. It was a 10K obstacle race, which she placed 4th in her age group and 25th overall. From then on, she was hooked!
Alissa has since run 18 half-marathons and 7 marathons and is a 4-time Boston Qualifier and 1-time Boston marathoner. She is returning to Boston this April with big goals!! Running has truly changed her life and has become so much more than the simple reasons she started: it’s now her way of life!!
Upon joining the sport, I had no idea what compression socks even were. However after having calf and shin problems as a result of inexperience and no recovery time, I quickly looked into them. I have found that other brands squeeze far too tightly and drain my wallet. However Tiux offers the perfect blend of comfort and support, and they cut out the middleman so they don’t break the bank!!
My greatest achievement is running the Boston Marathon in 2016 and qualifying again for 2017 and 2018. Most recently, I also ran a sub one hour 15k which has been a big goal of mine for a long time.
It has been my goal since my 3rd marathon to go sub 3-hour by the time I’m 40 and I won’t give up!!
